So - they've turned TWO!

Holy bad blogger I am. I once seriously enjoyed this, but it's been so incredibly busy as of late, I've been viewing this as just one more things that I should be doing. Ugh.

So the girls turned two at the end of March, and Paul & I asked the same question again - where exactly has the time gone? I have a different sort of perspective now. Peyton had turned two shortly before the twins were born, so I sort of find myself "benchmarking" an awful lot now. It's clear more than ever, now, that Peyton certainly matured into "little girl" from "baby" quite quickly.

These two are and remain "babies" to me. Sure, we've gotten rid of the bottles, high chairs and the cribs will be out very soon too - and they're chatting up a storm, learning their ABC's and toilet training. But I'm still hesitant to call them toddlers, for some reason.

They have two very distinct personalities, but we have found that some of their traits have on occasion - flipped. Weird, but true.

Leah is still mommy's girl. She's by far the most sensitive of the three kids, and she's got the most expressive face. She isn't speaking too clearly yet, but definitely makes herself understood. Though she desperately tries, she has troubles keeping up to her two sisters. For two reasons: 1) she's awkward. By that, I mean she doesn't move too...smoothly. and 2) she's soft. Like, she'll want to play rough, but if an elbow comes her way, GAME OVER, she's going home. She loves her food, and everyone else's. She's a little Molly Maid - constantly tidying up, wiping down the counters and pitching anything and everything in the garbage. Her two favorite phrases: "No no, Pay" and "I'm hungry." She has a bit of the devil in her - my mom is convinced that it is LEAH who we'll be losing sleep over when they're in their teens. She does this thing where she'll grab something she knows she shouldn't have, then race away giggling. And if you're ever angry with her, she'll only have to bat her devestatingly long eyelashes, and you'll forget what you were mad about.

Paige is, well Paige. Paige is part of the reason why I've fallen so behind in updating this blog. Twice now, I think. Ha. She put us through about 3 months of sleep issues, that were only (finally) resolved at the beginning of March. Seems like a lifetime ago, now - but it was brutal while it lasted. Worse than when the twins were newborns, I think. We finally had to use a new (to us) technique to essentially "train" her to self soothe, and the technique worked like a charm - we're back to getting more than 3 hours of sleep per night. But that pretty much in a nutshell describes Paige - she's a limit-pusher, for sure.
Paige can charm anyone - in fact of the three kids, I would say that she tends to always get the most attention. When we're out, she seeks out faces, locks the gaze, then shamelessly flirts. Just tonight, she shared a smooch with a little guy who lives a few houses up the block. But normally, she targets older men. Like, 50 plus. She idolizes Peyton - too often, she's constantly repeating word-for-word whatever Peyton is saying. She wants to be with her, act like her, everything. And she's a smart cookie - she sings the words along to music, she can almost sing the alphabet. Like Peyton, she loves books. She moves with such grace, she's an absolute natural dancer. And she's got an endless supply of energy.

We celebrated their actual BIRTH DAY with Rich & De coming over for dinner/drinks. Their party came two weeks later, when Paul's parents were back from Florida and could celebrate with us. It was a great party, with loads of people and very generous gifts.

As the weather's been improving, we've been spending a lot of time outdoors. They expect to go out every day now, and if they can't (due to bad weather) they sit and pout at the patio door.

We're thrilled that spring has finally arrived after a long, couped up winter, and we have so many things planned for this summer! Being two now, everything is SO MUCH EASIER. We're planning our summer vacation to Cape Breton and I can not wait! Rich, De and likely Tanya will be joining us for a week - I'm so excited that the twins will be dipping their little toes in the Atlantic for the first time ever.

That's the update for now - pictures will come very soon!
